Dear Supporters,
On November 7th, Menlo Park residents spoke with a loud and clear voice. By a wide margin, they elected Richard Cline and me to serve on the next city council. Thank you for your support during the campaign, and for your ongoing support as we begin our service early next month.
The race for the third spot was close, with John Boyle retaining a slight lead over Vince Bressler. Menlo Park voters also soundly rejected Measure J, the advisory measure to put a sports complex at Bayfront Park. The utility tax proposal, Measure K, was trailing but now appears to have passed. Election results will be certified on December 5th.
The vote on Nov. 7th culminated a campaign that began over three months ago. It has been an intense, hectic, and exhilarating time. Far and away, the best part has been getting to know so many Menlo Park residents. From Belle Haven to Sharon Heights, our city is filled with people who care deeply and passionately about our community. You have taught me a great deal during this campaign, and I look forward to continuing my education as a council member.
This is a victory for all of Menlo Park. You stood up to slate politics and slate government, and affirmed that you want a council that is open and inclusive. Thank you to all who helped make this possible. Your time, effort, and money were the engine that ran the campaign. Congratulations on a job well done.
Please keep an eye out for several messages that will be sent out in the near future, including an invitation to the swearing in ceremony on December 5th (with a reception to follow). We are also preparing to send out some interesting campaign statistics and a brief post election survey.
I am honored and humbled by this victory and the confidence that you have placed in me. I look forward to serving as your council member and to your continued friendship, advice, and help.
